Philip T. Hicks, as you might expect, is a man of many talents…and is especially gifted in choosing a wife! Married in 1992 to the former Patti Lee Redeker of Cupertino, CA, this dynamic duo truly believe in the benefits of laughter! Thus, they chose the name of their business to be A Merry Heart! Embracing the Proverb “A Merry Heart Doeth Good Like A Medicine”, their mission is to use entertainment as a vehicle to drive home healthy messages!

After graduating with an undergraduate degree in Television & Journalism, Philip went on to study Acting and has used his skills on both radio and television, doing promotions and voice-overs. His ad lib skills have led to over 25 years as a professional entertainer.
About Us
For several years Philip gained enormous popularity alongside a performing pot-belly pig and this dynamic duo was known as "Cuz'n Philburt & Wilburt the Pig!"  While their talented pig is now in hog heaven, folks still enjoy the memories of seeing them WIN the extreme Gong Show, appear in an Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile "super bowl commercial" and open for comedian Jeff Foxworthy!  Additionally, they made guest appearances on several TV shows and were featured on Sacramento KVOR-13's Special Assignment and Los Angeles KTLA-5 morning show!

While in southern California Philip was selected the new BOZO the Clown during national auditions sponsored by the original Bozo, Larry Harmon.  But after moving south to begin a new career as a new BOZO, the Harmon production company changed direction so that door closed.

Many have compared Philip to the late Jim Varney who made "Knowuthahmean, Vern?" a household word.  Throw in the spontaneity of Robin Williams and the versatility of Jonathan Winters and you have Philip T Hicks!

Patti completed an undergraduate degree in Recreational Therapy before working for several years with the physically and emotionally challenged. She continues to serve special needs children while working as a substitute Teacher’s assistant in the Roseville, CA schools. She also occasionally clowns as “PattiCakes” – painting faces and sculpting balloons for birthdays, carnivals and many other events.

Patti is also very gifted at teaching face-painting and balloon sculpture, and does so to equip others for ministry and entertainment opportunities! On January 15, 2012 their son, Cody, turns 13 years old! While not yet ready for the stage (only if he has a desire!), he’s often surprised them at the conclusion of an event – when he grabs a microphone and announces “Thank you for coming today! Hope you enjoyed the show!”
